House Reef

Coral Sea Sensatori has a beautiful house reef which is perfect for snorkelers and divers. A jetty in the middle of the beach makes getting to the water easy. As soon as you enter the water, you will find yourself in a natural aquarium where you can swim among massive coral formations and various colorful Red Sea reef fish such as parrotfish, butterfly, bannerfish, angelfish, but other interesting species like stonefish and lionfish can also be spotted. Look at the sea bottom where stingrays hide in the sand.

For novice snorkelers, we recommend staying in the designated area in front of the jetty, that is marked with buoys. Advanced snorkelers can explore both the right and left sides where the reef is even more stunning.

Swimming to the left, you will reach the site called Ras Ghamila (this is the area right on the left of Sensatori’s house reef), while if you swim to the right, you can explore the Ras Nasrani (this is the reef section in front of the Pickalbatros and Sunrise Remal Beach Resorts) and even the Ras Bob sites (this is the area past the Sunrise Remal jetty).

You are free to swim all along the coast, within your limits of course. Swimming to the left, towards Ras Ghamila, the corals are extremely stunning, but the current can be intense. Therefore, explore this side only if you are a strong swimmer and the sea conditions are calm.

The reef section on the right offers safer snorkeling as there are several hotels along the coast (Baron Resort, Coral Beach Montazah Resort, Pickalbatros Resort), each with a jetty. If you feel tired or experience difficulty, you can use other hotel’s jetties too to leave the water or ask for help from the staff. You can walk back to Coral Sea Seansatori on the shore.

Lagoon

Besides the hotel’s house reef, you can snorkel in the turquoise lagoon, which is next to the hotel area. Currently, this is an abandoned beach with constructions around. Not many people visit it except some resort guests and locals who come here to relax and snorkel in the lagoon.

Despite the beach is not so nice and there are only some small patch reefs, we found really good snorkeling here! The shallow, protected waters are home to juvenile fish; it is like a fish nursery. If you are lucky, you might spot turtles resting between the coral patches.

The shallow coral reefs and seagrass-covered areas are perfect for looking for tiny sea creatures like nudibranchs and sea slugs that are difficult to spot in deeper waters. The calm water and sandy sea bottom make this place a favorite feeding ground for rays, too. Different types, mainly eagle rays, and cowtail rays look for food in the fine sand.

The best is to snorkel in the right corner of this bay, around the yellow marker. Also, it is worth swimming towards the outer coral reef, but don’t swim towards the middle of the lagoon because there is nothing interesting (only sand) to see.

Also, you can visit the lagoon if the weather is windy and the staff closes the jetty because snorkeling from it can be dangerous due to rough seas. This doesn’t happen too often, but if it does, you can still go snorkeling in this lagoon.
