The Scubus S – Augmented reality smart diving mask
The Scubus S, the world’s first augmented reality mask was designed by Noah Smith. The basic idea was to make the underwater communication easier by using a smart scuba diving mask.
If you like to be in the water or underwater, you also know it is difficult to communicate with your team members. It is impossible by using your mouth, so you need to use your hands, special signs if you would like to make contact with your buddy. These signs are not always clear, people can forget or just mix them.
The smart scuba diving mask are able to send short ” messages to the others by using the chat function. OK, it is not a real chat, because you can send only short ” pre-typed” messages like “Help me” or “Take a photo of me” but it is an easy and fast way for signing. The short message will appear in your chat window on your display. These features can make scuba diving safer. The ability to chat is limited in distance: up to 100m/300 feet.

The Scubus S system consists of two parts : the smart scuba diving mask and a watch, which is the remote controller for managing your mask.
An interesting fact is, that the smart scuba diving mask use the acoustic wave as means of communication like the submarines. Bluetooth , radio waves and wireless systems do not work well underwater, but it is completely the opposite with the acoustic waves. The acoustic waves work even better underwater than on the surface.
The smart scuba diving mask is a very high-tech mask, with ergonomic design (masks fits any type of face, equipped with anti-fog glass) and useful functions.
