iBubble - The first underwater drone that follows You

iBubble – The first underwater drone that follows You

Do you enjoy underwater filming and sharing your adventures with your friends? We absolutely do but we must admit, sometimes it could be difficult – concentrating on your body, on your buddy, on your gear, on the sealife, and even on your camera at the same time is not always easy. So what about forgetting holding your camera and just enjoy being underwater while your personal underwater drone captures your best moments? It sounds amazing, isn’t it? Let me introduce the iBubble, the first autonomous GoPro diving drone what will open new dimensions for you in your snorkeling or diving adventures.

Underwater drone

Intelligent, user-friendly underwater drone

The iBubble team consists of underwater lovers who have been working on their enormous project since March 2015 – they interacted with hundreds of people from the diving community and developed the form and software with experts and future users. They wanted to create an underwater drone which meets the real needs and could revolutionize underwater photography.

The iBubble is designed for GoPro cameras (compatible with Hero3 and up), you may insert easily your action camera and start new adventures under the sea, it does not matter you are a snorkeler, freediver, diver or spearfisher, this entirely autonomous underwater drone will follow you and create stunning movies of you. But you can use the iBubble for other purposes as well: to check dive sites before going there, analyse your technique or document facts and datas.

With your connected bracelet it will be easy to keep your iBubble under control: you’ll have 8 embedded camera movements including „come-to- me” feature. The bracelet communicates with the underwater drone through a transmitter. You can start or stop filming easily with pushing the Start/Stop switch. They plan to develop the current bracelet with dive computer manufacturers in the future: an integrated high-visibility display will show the current settings.

The location of the iBubble will depend on the filming mode, you can choose the following modes:

  • follow me: the drone remains near you and records what you see
  • selfie: it completes a full circle around you horizontally or vertically keeping you at the centre
  • zoom in/out: wide angle and macro modes
  • manual mode: you may take close-ups holding the iBubble in your hand

The product has a futuristic, hydrodynamic shape and high-end software both were developed and tested with professionals. As Wi-Fi and don’t work underwater, they had to find other solutions to ensure communication between the underwater drone and bracelet: the same low-frequency positioning system used by submarines.

With the integrated LED lights, the colors will bright even in low light conditions. Thanks to the stabilisation system your video will be perfectly steady even in currents. In case of permanent signal loss or out of battery it resurfaces automatically.

A target-function is also part of the future plans: with this great option you will just need to press the target locking button for 5 seconds and the iBubble will start to follow it.

Would you like to know what is under your boat, want to check a place underwater but staying dry? With the Exploration Pack you’ll get a remote and 100 meters fibre cable and you can see what is in the water on the live video feedback.

The iBubble is designed with minimal footprint: silent operation and maximal respect for the marine life, the underwater drone avoid obstacles automatically; do not leave marks on the ecosystem. There are no bubbles coming out from the iBubble, because it does not rely on a ballast system. And what is more, they will support non-profit organizations with 1% of the sales and help them to make our oceans cleaner.

Anett fell in love with the ocean immediately when she put her head underwater in the Red Sea back in 2010. Discovering megacities is not her style but getting lost in tiny coastal villages, capturing the beauty of the sea while snorkeling. Wherever she goes, she takes her mask, fins and underwater camera with her. She has a big interest in exploring the world’s last hidden underwater paradises and marine conservation. She hopes to inspire people to protect our oceans by sharing her underwater stories. Find her photos on @anett.szaszi Instagram too!
